If your fingerprint feels less responsive after applying a screen protector, this can happen with ultrasonic sensors and can usually be improved with a few simple steps.
Here are a few steps that may help improve fingerprint recognition:
-
Re-register your fingerprint:
Delete any saved fingerprints and add a new one after applying the screen protector. -
Increase touch sensitivity:
Go to Settings > Display > Touch Sensitivity and enable it to improve responsiveness. -
Use Improve Accuracy (S26 Series):
If your fingerprint is added but not unlocking consistently:
Go to Settings > Biometrics and Security > Fingerprints and turn on “Improve Accuracy.” -
Press firmly:
Apply firm and even pressure and ensure your full finger covers the sensor area. -
Try a different finger:
If your finger has dry or peeling skin, try using another finger with intact skin. -
Check for software updates:
Ensure your device is up to date, as Samsung may release improvements. -
Register the same finger twice (optional):
Add the same thumb again as a second fingerprint to improve consistency.

Using firm pressure, full finger contact, and a slightly warm environment can help improve performance.
Additional Notes
Fingerprint performance can vary based on:
- Finger condition (dry, peeling skin)
- Pressure and finger placement
- Environmental factors (cold, dry air, humidity)
